News from afpop - Monday 18th of April 2022 - Update

Included in this briefing: 1. Situation of Alert 2. Travel 3. Pollen alert 4. Satellite office dates --Désolé, pas de traduction française disponible --

Good morning everyone and as promised here is the weekly Briefing for last week, after the government announced that the Alert status will remain in force until the end of this week. There have been no changes to any of the restrictions in place, but the Director-General for Health, Graça Freitas, has warned that the number of cases of COVID-19 still remains high and reinforced the call for the use of protective measures, such as the wearing of masks. The DGS considers that we are still some way from reaching a safe level that will allow us to have a relaxed and safe summer and she also said that the use of masks should remain in force in schools, because there is a large population in those establishments that is susceptible to contracting the COVID-19 and spreading it. We shall see at the end of the week if the masks mandate is to continue.

Over the last two weeks we have had the opportunity to take part in seminars organised by Blevins Franks and Open Media. The team and I have really enjoyed the opportunity to meet Members at these events and I would like to thank you all for the kind sentiments that you expressed.

Please remember that next Monday, the 25th of April, is Dia da Liberdade and the office will be closed.
